Etihad Arena is the Middle East's largest indoor entertainment venue, set on the Yas Bay waterfront with capacity for around 18,000 attendees. Past performers include Eminem, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Drake, Post Malone, Metallica, Katy Perry, Tarkan, and Christina Aguilera. If you have tickets to a show here — or you're planning to come for one — here's what locals know.

GETTING THERE

From Abu Dhabi city: 25-30 minutes by car. Yas Bay parking opens 3 hours before showtime. Get there by 4 hours before the show to avoid the parking bottleneck.

From Dubai: 1 hour 15 minutes on E11 in normal traffic. Don't drive back the same night — return traffic after a 23:00 show end is 90+ minutes. Stay overnight on Yas Island or budget AED 250+ for a Careem.

By taxi or Careem: surge after showtime is 3-4x. Expect AED 150+ to Abu Dhabi city, AED 350+ to Dubai. Walking 10 minutes to a quieter Yas Island pickup point can drop the price significantly.

By public bus: route 218 stops on Yas Island; service is reduced after 23:00. Not reliable for late-night returns.

PARKING

Yas Bay parking is free but fills 1-2 hours before doors. Overflow lots: Yas Mall (5-min walk, free) and Yas Marina (10-min walk, free). Both safer bets than circling Yas Bay 30 minutes before doors. Don't pay for VIP parking from third parties — official parking is plenty.

WHERE TO EAT BEFORE THE SHOW

Yas Bay Waterfront, right next to the arena (5-min walk): casual food trucks, Lock Stock & Barrel, Garage. Sit-down options: Asia Asia (Pan-Asian), 1762 (American).

Yas Marina (10-min drive, 15-min walk): higher-end. Cipriani (Italian), Aquarium Restaurant (seafood). Reserve at least a week ahead on concert nights.

Yas Mall food court (5-min drive): cheaper, faster, family-friendly. Good with kids before a 19:30 show.

Tip: Restaurants near Etihad Arena get slammed 2 hours before showtime. Eat at 17:30 if your show is 21:00.

INSIDE THE VENUE

18,000-capacity indoor arena. Strong AC — you'll want a light layer for long shows. Multiple food and drink kiosks. Alcohol served at most events under UAE licensing. Strict security check on entry — leave large bags at the hotel. Cameras and phones allowed; pro DSLR usually not.

BEST SEATS BY SECTION

Floor or GA: closest to the artist. Standing only at most concerts. Loud but rewarding. Best for high-energy fans.

Lower bowl (sections 100-110): seated, sightline to stage, no neck-craning. Best balance for most attendees.

Upper bowl (sections 200+): cheapest. Sound is good (modern arena), sightlines OK. Good for budget concerts.

VIP and boxes: skip unless you genuinely need the lounge. Sightlines aren't always better than mid-bowl.

WHERE TO STAY OVERNIGHT

If you're flying in for the show or coming from Dubai, staying on Yas Island lets you walk back to your apartment in 10-15 minutes after the show. No queue, no surge, no driving home tired. Casa Duna is a one-bedroom canal-view apartment in Water's Edge, 10-minute walk to Etihad Arena. Sleeps 4 with sofa bed. Direct booking 10-15 percent cheaper than Airbnb. Other options: hotels at Yas Plaza (W Yas, Crowne Plaza, Park Inn), self-catering apartments at Water's Edge or Mayan.

TL;DR

Arrive 4 hours before doors if driving. Eat at Yas Bay or Yas Marina at 17:30. Park at Yas Bay (free) or Yas Mall overflow. Stay overnight on Yas Island if coming from Dubai. Don't pay for VIP parking or third-party shuttles. Tickets only from ticketmaster.ae or platinumlist.net.
