Yas Island Restaurants Ranked by Use Case: Family, Couples, Business, Quick Eats

A use-case tier list, not a generic best-of. Where to eat on Yas Island based on who you're with, from Casa Duna's locally-run host team.

Waterfront restaurant terrace on Yas Island at dusk

Yas Island’s restaurants cluster in four places: Yas Bay Waterfront, Yas Mall, Yas Marina, and inside the W Abu Dhabi over the racing circuit. For families, Texas Roadhouse or Shake Shack at Yas Mall. For a date, Paradiso at The Pier. For a client, Stills at Crowne Plaza. For a group, Hunter & Barrel at Yas Bay.

Most lists for this island rank by Google rating. That is noise. What decides your evening is who you are with.

This is how we triage when a guest messages us at 5pm asking about dinner.

Worth knowing first: a lot of the dining people associate with Abu Dhabi is not on this island. Hakkasan is at Emirates Palace. McGettigan’s is at the Dusit Thani on Muroor Road. Em Sherif is three separate cafés, on the Corniche, on Al Maryah and at Al Khubeirah. All of them are a mainland drive, not a Yas Island dinner. Everything in the five sections below is on the island. The rest is in its own section at the bottom. Worth knowing: venues that serve alcohol here are 21 and over, and the door asks for ID. Bring the passport or the Emirates ID itself, not a photo of it on your phone.

For families with kids

Texas Roadhouse, Yas Mall. Family steakhouse, booths, warm rolls with cinnamon butter before you order. Big enough that nobody minds a loud table.

Shake Shack, Yas Mall, first floor. Zero risk. Fast, air conditioned, the kids’ burger is dependable. Not a proper dinner, and the highest floor in this tier.

P.F. Chang’s, Yas Mall. Big tables, everything shares, and the dynamite shrimp buys you fifteen quiet minutes.

Stars ‘N’ Bars, Yas Marina. Casual, on the water, terrace over the boats and the circuit. Easy parking. The move when the kids are tired and you still want to be outside. It is a licensed venue and it gets louder after dark, so make it lunch or early evening with children.

Skip for under-tens: anywhere with a reservation book and a dress code. The pacing does not work.

For couples and date night

Paradiso, The Pier, Yas Bay Waterfront. Traditional Italian, and the room does half the work. Water on one side, boardwalk on the other, so the walk afterwards is part of the evening. Reserve ahead at weekends.

Brooklyn Chop House, W Abu Dhabi. Classic steakhouse with an Asian turn to it. This is the one for an anniversary or a birthday.

L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, Yas Bay Waterfront. The Naples original, open since 1870, wood-fired. Not candle-lit romantic. The food is excellent and the boardwalk afterwards is the date.

Bushra, Yas Bay Waterfront. Modern Lebanese, genuinely good, with a DJ and belly dancing several nights a week. Book it as a night out, not a quiet dinner.

For business and work meetings

Stills, Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi, Yas Island. European gastropub, 26 metre bar, golf course view. Quiet at lunch, no surprises, nobody has to explain the menu.

Asia Asia, Yas Bay Waterfront. Bigger room, food that photographs well without being precious. Good for a team dinner of four to eight.

Hunter & Barrel, Pier 71, Yas Bay Waterfront. Australian, chargrilled, right for the dinner that ends with a handshake.

Avoid for business: anywhere theatrical, and pub food.

For groups and nights out

Lock, Stock & Barrel, Yas Bay Waterfront. The island’s party bar. Tex-Mex built for sharing, live music some nights. The door is the catch: 21 and over, smart casual, no trainers and no sportswear, and their house rule is mixed groups and couples. A table of six men does not get in. Go as a couple or a mixed group, dress it up a notch, and it is the best night out on the island.

Hunter & Barrel, Yas Bay Waterfront. Louder after dark, seats a group without much notice.

Garage, W Abu Dhabi, on the Yas Marina Circuit. Five kitchens in one room: Steam Table for noodles and dumplings, Nikkei House, Mezza Bar for Lebanese mezze, Meat Fault for grilled cuts, Tart Van. Six people who want six different dinners is the exact problem it solves.

Asia Asia, Yas Bay Waterfront. Large, built for groups.

Quick eats, under AED 60 a head

Operation Falafel, Yas Mall. The wraps are the move. A personal pick, not a researched one.

Shake Shack, Yas Mall, first floor.

Drop Coffee, Yas Bay Waterfront. Beans roasted daily, several brew methods.

Brew & Beans, the canal walk in Water’s Edge, our own neighbourhood. Coffee, pastries, a sit-by-the-water sort of place. The one we actually use.

Worth leaving the island for

Al Mrzab, Airport Road, behind the National Theatre. Emirati and Kuwaiti cooking, casual, Bib Gourmand in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide. About 30 minutes from Yas.

Hakkasan, Emirates Palace, on the Corniche. Theatrical, expensive, worth doing once. Roughly 30 minutes. Dim sum at lunch is the smarter way in.

Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas, Saadiyat Island, five minutes from Louvre Abu Dhabi. Pair lunch with a museum morning. Check the name when you book: Saadiyat Rotana, not Beach Rotana, which is a different hotel on the mainland.

F1 weekend

Restaurants across the island book out three to four weeks ahead for the Friday and Saturday of Grand Prix weekend. Do not plan on walking in. Staying with us? Message us when you book and we will tell you what is realistic for your dates. Full planning is in our F1 weekend planner.

How we actually use this list

A guest messages: two adults, kids aged eight and five, near the apartment. We send Texas Roadhouse or Shake Shack.
Anniversary, no kids. Paradiso, or Brooklyn Chop House if they want it to feel like an event.
Client lunch, professional. Stills.
Six of us, nobody agrees. Garage.

That is the point of sorting by occasion rather than by rating.

Want the whole island rather than the shortlist? Every venue we have actually eaten at is in our Yas Island restaurants guide, checked in August 2026.

Questions we get

Do I need to reserve? Friday and Saturday nights, yes, two or three days ahead. Weeknights you can usually walk in. F1 weekend is three to four weeks.

Is there halal food on Yas Island? Most restaurants on the island serve halal meat. Hotel restaurants vary, so ask when you book.

What does dinner cost? Quick eats AED 40 to 60 a head. Casual sit-down AED 80 to 120. Mid-tier AED 200 to 300. A 10% service charge is usually on the bill already.

Where do people who live here eat? Yas Mall on a weekday, Yas Bay Waterfront in the evening, and Brew & Beans on the canal for coffee.
